Box chamber down jacket (custom size)
This is a full zip down jacket with 4 inch wide box chamber baffles. Box chamber means there is a 3/4" tall vertical baffle separating each chamber so that there are no sewn through cold spots. Heat loss is drastically decreased and warmth per weight is drastically increased. Furthermore, this jacket has a differential cut. The outer shell is cut wider than the inner so that when it is pulled tight it still allows the down fill to maintain loft. It has a full draft tube along the zipper to seal in warmth. There are no pockets on this jacket that penetrate the shell and create cold spots. The 1.5" of loft is continuous all the way around. This is a VERY warm jacket for the weight. MUCH warmer than sewn through construction. Each chamber is overstuffed 70% over the baffle height for exceptional down control. The Argon 67 outer shell is 0.67oz/square yard and very breathable.
A stock size medium is approximately 9.5oz and contains about 5oz of 800fp DWR down. Keep in mind total fill weight is a very, very general metric at best and in this case can only be used, very roughly, to compare to other box chamber jackets and not to any sewn through jacket. This jacket is significantly warmer than any sewn through jacket with the same, or more, total fill weight. Also, don't try to use fill weight to compare a collar jacket to a hooded jacket.
