I am currently using Hyperdry 950 fill power goose down and Hyperdry 800 fill power goose down. These are both treated downs that have a water repellent coating. I selected this source for a few reasons.

-I have a long history of using these and I know their long term loft performance is excellent.

-It's water repellent treatment is fluorocarbon free. The idea that DWR treatments on our gear washes off, into sensitive environments, weighs heavily on me. These fluorocarbons can have a very negative effect on life so I choose to use down with a fluorocarbon free treatment.

-It is Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certified. "The Responsible Down Standard aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to an unnecessary harm".  This is essential to me.

Whether we choose animal products or synthetics, there is always a cost. The best we can do is strive to find the best option with the least cost to environment, sustainability, and ethics.
